Ford ranger wont crank

Mar 04, 2012 · I a 1993 Ford Ranger, 4 cylinder, 5 speed. a few days ago i was driving home and the volt meter on the inside of the truck went all the way up, a little past the red line so i pulled over and shut it off. Then yesterday we put a new alternator and battery in it and it just cranked so we checked the fuses and replaced a few that were blown but we don't know how to check the relays. The relays ... The control side needs voltage and ground or the relay won't energize. Hi I have an 02 ranger. It has sat for maybe about a month it wont start now. At first the battery was dead so I bought a new one I added fuel stabalizer to the gas and put new gas in it. All it is doin when you turn the key is it cranks once and after that all you can hear is the starter spinning.
